Damage to racking, other fixtures and to vehicles by fork lift trucks is a common problem. When a fork lift truck backs into racking, the force is spread across the surface area of the back of the truck. When a fork hits racking, tremendous force is concentrated on a tiny area. This can be fatal unless measures are taken to mitigate against it. As well as the obvious safety concern, much time and expense can be incurred repairing or replacing damaged objects, especially as it often involves assets belonging to third parties.
